Challenges Faced by Graphic Designers in Recent Times
Graphic designs of any software are a pleasant interface which a user experiences while using the application. Graphic designers are people who design the images and graphics of an application like console game or a simple website or any other application of digital and print media. There are different fields where graphic designers are required. For gaming or for media highly skilled graphic designers are needed. Now days there are number of courses available where a person can attain the training and learn the basic skills but it their imagination which takes them to the top. In today’s world where technology is ever changing, graphic designers have to be on their toes. They need to keep updating their portfolios and skills. There are certain difficulties which graphic designers are facing in recent times:-
Competition- Lot of competition in this line is making it difficult for designers to sustain. Non graphic designers with knowledge of Photoshop consider themselves as graphic designers. Small businessman who wants their website on cheaper price prefers to use their services.
Undervaluation- Most of the people considers designing an easiest job to do. They undervalue the designer’s hard work. Designers are paid less. Even the freelancers charge very less to acquire projects which make it difficult for other skilled designers to command premium price.
Ever-Tightening Deadlines- Time constraint is one of the major problems faced by a graphic designer. In publishing media there is always a crunch of time. As graphic designing is a time consuming work which need creativity to blossom. Crunch of time jeopardise creativity.
Online Templates- Lot of ready template are available on e-market which makes it difficult for good graphic designers to sell their services. To educate customers about why there is a need for a good graphic designer is difficult, as most of the clients prefer price over the quality.
Overseas Competition- Online access to global market where graphic designs are offered on lower rates is giving tough competition. Pre-notion of clients that overseas’ services are better makes it difficult for our graphic designers to sustain.
Expectation- Sometimes Clients sets the high expectation from graphic designers in return they are not ready to pay decent amount and at times they are running short with time making the situation difficult for graphic designer.
Perfectionism- In the art and design field designers like to attain perfection, they want to give their best. At times graphic designers also face this perfectionist syndrome which makes things difficult for them.
Constant Training and Updating Equipment - Rapid and constant changes in technology is major concern for graphic designers because they need to polish their skills regularly. Even they need to invest in updating equipments and software.
Re-Designing - Most of the time clients are not sure of their requirements and choices. Once designers are done with their designs clients will come up with new addition or idea and will ask designers to redesign or improvise it which at times is frustrating and time consuming for designers.
